Since the beginning of next year, in Latvia, it can significantly grow the sizes of fines for smoking in prohibited places – from 15 to 100 euros. In addition, smoking will be prohibited in numerous ignorative institutions in Latvia. This, with reference to the Latvian Ministry of Health, reports the Edition DELFI.LV.

As reported, in the Ministry of Health of Latvia, they proposed to ban smoking in all gambling establishments of the country, as it was found that about half of the non-smoking locals do not play the game for money, and about 30% of smoking Latvians are gambling players. Based on this, in the Ministry of Health made a conclusion that if such citizens prohibit smoking in a casino, it will reduce their interest in money games.

In addition, in the Ministry of Health of Latvia offered to increase from 15 to 100 euros, a fine for smoking in the wrong place so that these restrictive measures become more efficient. Also, the ministry wants to adopt a law that introduces a ban on free alcoholic beverages for visitor to gambling institutions, as a person who uses alcoholic beverages in large doses, more often risks and loses large amounts of money.
